10 KOAs to visit with kids
-
Jackson Hole/ Snake River KOA
The furthest west we have ever been is Ohio. We are dying to get out west, and this kampground located in Jackson, Wyoming, and includes Jackson Hole, Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks, Bridger Teton National Forest, and the Snake and Hoback Rivers is incredible! Activities include horseback riding, white water rafting, fishing trips, hiking, paddle boarding, river trips, and more. I am convinced we wouldn’t be bored for one second.
-
Orlando/ Kissimmee KOA
One of the things we love so much about KOAs is that they add another dimension to your vacation. This KOA is located minutes away from Walt Disney World Resort, Universal Studios, SeaWorld, Gatorland, LEGOLAND Florida. This means you can have all the fun of visiting any of these awesome parks, and also have all the fun of the outdoors and camping.
-
Niagara Falls KOA
This kampground is just 3 miles from Niagara Falls in Canada. This is one of the sites we have visited (you can read all about it here!), and can attest to the fact that it’s perfect for families with kids. This particular site has 2 bounce pillows, an indoor and outdoor bounce pillow, hayrides, mini golf, and more scheduled activities. If we visited Niagara Falls again we would definitely return!
-
Virginia Beach KOA
Another beach KOA that offers so much for families with kids. They have a giant inflatable waterslide, 2 pools, life sized board games, a bounce pillow, a playground, and themed weekends. This KOA is so popular you have to book super early- especially if you’re staying in a cabin! Of course, you are right next to everything Virginia Beach has to offer including their boardwalk, pier fishing, and the beach!
-
Herkimer Diamond KOA
This kampground is located in Herkimer, NY and you actually get to “mine for diamonds”. Of course they’re not actually diamonds they’re clear quartz but it’s still a super cool, and totally different experience. The site has a pool, fishing, planned activities, and bike rentals. Plus, it has a super awesome tree house, that my kids would LOVE!
-
Cape Hatteras KOA
This list of 10 KOAs to visit with kids would not be complete without this one. Located in the Outer Banks, NC this campground is located on the dunes of the Outer banks. It has been recently renovated and now has an absolutely amazing pool with 2 water slides. We haven’t been there yet, but we have friends who have, and they are lifelong Cape Hatteras KOAers (yes, I made that word up!) now!
-
Lake Tahoe KOA
Again, we are dying to get out west. This campground offers some pretty amazing activities in and around the campground. You can go hot-air ballooning, horseback riding, hiking, biking and golfing or kayaking, jet Skiing or parasailing, and fishing in the Truckee River or other nearby lakes. Obviously there is something for any outdoor lover to do. Not to mention the amazing location just 4 miles from the south shore of Lake Tahoe. I mean, if you’ve got a sitter, the grown ups can even hit the casinos!
-
Fort Collins/ Lakeside KOA
There are so many KOAs to visit with kids, it really is hard to narrow them down. This is another one located out west in Fort Collins, CO. There are so many family friendly things to do you can’t go wrong here. They have bumper boats, mini golf, a bounce pillow AND slide, paddle boats. That’s just at the campground! There is so much to do in the area- including rodeos!! How cool is that??!
-
Myrtle Beach KOA
This is another KOA we have personally visited- you can read all about it here. The kids ask to go back every year. Myrtle Beach KOA offers so much to families with kids from 2 pools, to a splash pad, bounce pillow, golf cart rentals, daily activities, and of course, it’s walking distance to the beach and boardwalk OR you can take a golf cart (or drive your car). We took a golf cart which made the whole experience even more fun!
-
Sugarloaf/ Key West KOA
I’m so excited we are headed here this summer!! First of all it’s located 14 miles from Key West and the southernmost KOA so that should really be enough to get you there. But on top of that, the site has it’s own little beach, water playground (I’m talking inflatables on the gulf), kayak rentals, a marina, fishing and snorkeling, and the list goes on! We are counting down the days!
Ok, who’s ready for vacation now? I know I am. If you’ve ever visited any of these or have one to add, I’s love to hear it. Leave me a comment.
