If you’re looking for a new slow cooker, I have this one and I love it!! I have been suggesting sloppy joes for literally years to my family as a dinner option, and they all scoff at me.  Then, one day a couple of months ago, they finally caved and let me make them.  I mean, look, it doesn’t get much easier than regular sloppy joes, and I wanted in on that easy meal.  Plus, if you’re like me, and you decide to make them in the crock pot,  I can’t imagine there is an easier dinner to make.  If you’re not interested in taking the time to meal plan, or you struggle with meal planning, you should totally check out the $5 meal plan.  (Use this link to get 2 weeks of meal plans free!) It’s makes the whole process so easy!  You just get your meals, recipes, and grocery lists sent to you for $5 a month.  the recipes are awesome, and you can personalize it for your family’s tastes!  Very cool!  And saves so much money when you meal plan like this.  Even if you’re not sure you can use it, it’s worth it to get your 2 weeks free now!

easy sloppy joes in the crock

pot

this is the easiest recipe for sloppy joes i have ever come across. i love that i can put them in the crock pot!

ingredients (this serves about 6)

  • 1 pound of ground beef or turkey
  • 1 green pepper
  • 1 can tomato soup
  • 1/2 cup of ketchup
  • 2 tbsp mustard
  • 2-3 tbsp brown sugar

Brown and chop up the meat in a large skillet. drain the beef.  When I do any recipe that requires me to cook beef, I always make an extra pound or 2 at the same time.  Then i divide the cooked beef into 1-1.5 lb baggies and freeze them.  The next time I make a meal that requires beef, I just made it that much easier on myself.

Spray the crock pot with cooking spray.  Cut up the green pepper (I left this out just because I didn’t have one in the house), add it and all of the ingredients besides the beef to a bowl, and stir them up.  Add the beef and the tomato mixture to the crock pot, stir together, and cook on low 4-6 hours.  done!!  I serve this on a bun with french fries and green beans.  Easy peasy!!

If you want to get ridiculously easy, and you don’t want to follow a recipe, you can go one step further.  Just brown the beef, drain, spray the crock pot, add the beef and a can of manwich to the pot, and cook it on low.  “why wouldn’t i just make that in the evening, lorrin?” you say.  “what’s the point?” you ask. Because no matter how easy it is to make with a can of manwich, there are days when it’s not happening in the evening no matter how easy it is!! Sometimes, it’s just easier for me to have it done early, and then we can eat as early as we need to. Besides, all of the flavors get to marinade in the crock pot no matter which version you use!

What do you think?  Will you try this recipe for easy sloppy joes in the crock pot?
